The Coalition for Behavioral Health Announces New Business Recovery Initiative
New York City, New York (June 1, 2020) — With funding from the NYC COVID-19 Response and Impact Fund in The New York Community Trust, a multi-funder collaborative, The Coalition for Behavioral Health announced this week the launch of its new Business Recovery Initiative. The initiative will assist its member organizations to develop strategies for continued sustainability during and after the pandemic crisis. The Coalition has partnered with OPEN MINDS, a leading national behavioral health consulting firm, to provide webinars and content for the Business Recovery Initiative. Members of the Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Providers of New York (ASAP), with whom The Coalition has a strategic partnership, will also have access to the Business Recovery Initiative.
Members of The Coalition and ASAP will participate in a structured 13-week program that includes:
Weekly advisor-facilitated webinars provided by OPEN MINDS with ‘how to’ advice on crisis management and recovery planning
Technical assistance to individual agencies provided by an experienced panel of advisors
A crisis recovery planning by-invitation-only on-line technical assistance group
A suite of curated crisis recovery planning resources available on-demand through the program web portal
“Executives are facing tough questions and need strategies to increase resilience and ensure long-term sustainability during this crisis. The Coalition’s Business Recovery Initiative, with OPEN MINDS curriculum, brings much-needed guidance and expertise from leading local and national consultants who truly understand the unique challenges facing behavioral health providers,” said Amy Dorin, President & Chief Executive Officer of The Coalition for Behavioral Health.
The program curriculum is based on a seven-component crisis management and recovery program, The OPEN MINDS Executive Blueprint for Crisis Management. Developed by the team at OPEN MINDS, the program has seven key components:
1. Crisis management planning
2. Cash management planning
3. Virtual service delivery/operations best practices
4. Virtual revenue generation models
5. Planning for short-term revenue maximization
6. Planning for short-term business development
7. Strategic plan for post-disruption sustainability
“The current health and financial crises are a threat to the consumers that we at OPEN MINDS have focused on as our mission for 30+ years. Our work at OPEN MINDS, and our Executive Blueprint in particular, is designed to build management strength in the organizations serving them. We’re looking forward to working with The Coalition and its members to assure the continuity of the critical service delivery system in New York,” said Monica Oss, Chief Executive Officer and Senior Associate, OPEN MINDS.
“COVID-19 is putting unprecedented pressure on the behavioral health sector as demand for services is rapidly increasing due to mental health and substance use disorder issues resulting from unemployment and job insecurity, loss of loved ones, fear and anxiety. The Coalition’s Business Recovery Initiative will help agencies financially navigate the impact of COVID-19 to ensure that they not only survive the pandemic, but are strengthened for the future. ” said Mitchell Netburn, President & CEO of Samaritan Daytop Village and Chair of The Coalition’s Board of Directors.
