About Our Team
We are focused on strengthening leaders of human services organizations, supporting them to lead, manage, and govern with justice and dignity. Our team is multi-talented, multiracial, and diverse. We combine the talents and skills of each team member to ensure that service design and delivery is data-driven and responsive to real-world client needs.


Marc Kutner, MSW, MPA (He/Him)

Marc Kutner, MSW, MPA (He/Him) is the President of Akuity Development, LLC, a management consulting firm specialized in supporting health and human services organizations to maximize their impact and achieve their full potential. Akuity’s work is focused on the design and execution of complex initiatives, including strategic planning, service design & redesign, revenue diversification, capital development, and improving operational effectiveness. He holds a BS from Cornell University, an MPA from New York University, Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, and an MS in Social Work, Social Enterprise Administration from Columbia University.

Mary Pender Greene, LCSW-R, CGP (She/Her)

Mary Pender Greene, LCSW-R, CGP (She/Her) is the President & CEO of MPG Consulting. She is a career/executive coach, consultant, trainer, and a psychotherapist with a private practice. MPG Consulting (MPGC) is a consultant group committed to eliminating bias and structural racism in the workspace. The multi-racial highly talented team supports organizations and leaders in their pursuit of creating an inclusive, fair, and respectful work culture with the goal of removing barriers to success. Mary works with executives and senior managers in creating their antiracist/ anti-oppressive leadership style. She is the former Assistant Executive Director at The Jewish Board of Family and Children's Services. She is the author of Creative Mentorship and Career-Building Strategies and co-editor of Strategies for Deconstructing Racism in the Health and Human Services. Mary holds an MS in Social Work from the New York University School of Social Work.

Anita Appel, LCSW (She/Her)

Anita Appel, LCSW (She/Her) joined the Sachs Policy Group in 2014 and has 30+ years of experience in the field of behavioral health. At SPG, Ms. Appel works with a diverse group of clients including not-for-profit agencies that provide behavioral health, child welfare, and services for individuals with developmental disabilities. From 2006–2014, she served as the Director of the NYC Field Office at the New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) and began her work at OMH in 1983. As a leader in Children’s Behavioral Health, Ms. Appel helped create a comprehensive continuum of children’s services in New York City including family support and aa wide array of community based services. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a widely recognized and trusted health and human services leader.

Dr. Lisa Martin (She/Her)

Dr. Lisa Martin (She/Her) is a licensed clinical psychologist, DEIB consultant, antiracist trainer, and leadership coach. As a Senior Consultant for MPG Consulting, much of Dr. Lisa’s work centers on building community, fostering wellness and healing, and solidifying the voice and impact of established and emerging BIPOC leaders and white allies. She maintains a private practice in New York and Tampa where she works with high achieving folks with trauma histories. She has been featured in several local and national publications, podcasts, and news broadcasts sharing her expertise on racial equity, stress management, and parenting. Dr. Lisa holds a PhD in Clinical Psychology from St. John’s University.

Dr. Vanessa Bing

Dr. Vanessa Bing is a licensed clinical psychologist, educator and scholar who has worked for more than 25 years providing educational, therapeutic, and consulting services to a range of populations. With MPGC Consulting, Dr. Bing is a consultant, researcher and focus group facilitator with an antiracist lens. Committed to achieving equity and social justice in educational, professional, and community-based settings, she has lectured and provided organizational training/consultation on the topic of diversity, equity, and inclusion addressing the experience of implicit bias and microaggressions in corporate and educational settings. Dr. Bing has published articles addressing BIPOC populations and gender issues in psychology, and has lectured extensively on the topic of trauma and gender violence. She has served on the Board of Directors of the New York Association of Black Psychologists. She is a graduate of New York University, the Graduate Center of the City University of New York, and completed her clinical internship/training at NYU Medical Center/Bellevue Hospital.

Lynn Mercredi (She/Her)

Lynn Mercredi (She/Her) is the Executive Assistant to the President & CEO of MPGC, Mary Pender Greene. With 15+ years of experience as an administrator, Lynn manages MPGC’s coaches, trainers, consultants, and clients with compassion and connection. She ensures the efficient handling of client inquiries, trainings, and consultations. Lynn provides logistical support for the monthly Executive Undoing Racism Collective and is the anchor for the BIPOC SHIP (Support Healing Inspiration Planning) hub, a virtual accountability hub for all BIPOC. She earned her BA in English from SUNY Albany.

UNDOING RACISM EXECUTIVE COLLECTIVE

This group is designed for people in senior leadership in their organizations, particularly executive directors and their senior leadership teams, who have substantial decision-making authority and are invested in nurturing the organizations they lead to become more equitable, just, and anti-racist institutions. The group offers the opportunity to gather with peers and grapple collectively and honestly with the challenges leaders encounter and to build strategies and support for overcoming those challenges. Others are also welcome.

Our work is guided by the principles of The People’s Institute for Survival and Beyond, who are recognized internationally for their Undoing Racism® Workshop and Community Organizing Workshop.
